I have taken some time to slow down lately – sort of.  I have so many projects that are going on that blogging has had to take a second seat.

I was thinking this morning about my past studies and whether or not I will be returning any time soon and although I would really like to return to my studies regularly – I don’t think this is the right time for me to do so.  I know that I am learning and I did choose to take the slow road for a while.  I would rather slow things down even a little more once my current list of projects are up and running on their own so that I can enjoy more fun things for a little while.

I learned while I was re-reading some of my lessons that if I slow down I can actually receive even more from whatever I am doing because I am giving more of my attention to that one thing.  So focus or concentration combined with a goal gives more depth and yields something even greater than expected.

In the midst of all that is going on, I have been able to take time for myself to do my exercises and continue practice I think this has helped me focus more and more and be at peace with myself more as each day goes on.  On the couple of days when I was not able to take my morning time and practice – things got off to a little bit of a rough start!  And that is its own lesson!

Wow .. my spring has really started off like no other that I can recall, is that the energy of 2012?  Well, I won’t postulate on that all I can say is that everything is different this year.  The weather is different, and all the new projects, the number of which may have seemed overwhelming before suddenly seems remarkably doable.  So here is my list of projects as I am working on them:

This website and two others oh, and now one more … so four websites in total.

A new wellness business with my friend J — we are actually still preparing for the build out and hoping we can finish the build out and be up and  running within 6 weeks.

A new baby — ok he is 6 months old and yet he is still new and needs all the best of my energy.  I should have listed him first because he is first.  If he needs me – I don’t go anywhere and everyone knows it.

A new house?  My husband has almost decided we are going to buy a new house – wow I thought that might still be a year away.  Seems he is pretty set in his mind on this one.  And it might also happen in the next 6 weeks!  And so that would mean a new garden area  – a permanent garden area for me!  That actually excites me more than any house.

I had to return last night to my working book Write It Down, Make It Happen after allowing some concerns to creep in.  And reading through the chapters again and the advice on how to write through to what I want to see happen I once again felt myself achieving my goals.  There is so much going on this spring – it’s interesting it seems the more busy I am the less time I have to let the concerns creep in because most of my energy is so focused on deliberately creating all the time.  I guess that goes along with the saying that if you give a new project to a busy person they tend to get it done.  Time to get a few more things done!

I guess the short answer is yes and it’s also probably no at the same time.

Often we say things that either we just don’t really mean to say or that if we heard ourselves we wouldn’t want to say.  I learned a while ago to stop using the phrase, “I don’t know.”  I found that I had started using that phrase before I would even stop to think of whether I knew the answer to something, so I would say that I didn’t know and then just two seconds later I would say, “Well, maybe…”  Another word/phrase I unintentionally use a lot is, “What?”  and I use this again before I even stop to think about what was said.  I find that if I am not really listening to someone then I start to use that word because I am not actually paying attention.  And so now I have learned to listen to myself and when I hear the word “What” or before I am ready to say it I try to stop myself and consider what was said since I did hear it and I can recall it if I want to.

Well those are small examples of how we often don’t actually listen to the words we are using and how they do tell us something about ourselves.

If you have written down your goals and you are working towards them.  Listen to your words — do you hear yourself say the killer phrases; I can’t, I don’t know how, I don’t know, I couldn’t, I wouldn’t be able to …. I am sure you are getting the idea.  Listen to your words – think about what the repetition of those phrases tells you about what you think of yourself and what you can do and then try to make some adjustments to how you say things.

What do your words say about what is true for you?  What do you really want to be true for you?

Our biggest obstacle to making things happen is usually ourself – we procrastinate, we don’t believe we can make it happen.

Lay these by the side and give yourself a timetable.  Decide for the next 90 days you are going to do something — and work at it just to see what you can achieve.  If you have your goals laid out then just set aside the time required to give each goal some of your energy each day.  Be your best self – Live full out for 90 days and see what happens.  If after 90 days you are not invigorated and moving towards your goals then try something different.

Maybe that’s not the “resolve” Wayne is talking about in the quote – I think he is saying resolve that no matter what, no matter how long it takes … well just do it for at least 90 days — the longer you work at them the closer you will be.  If after 90 days you can be resolved then that is fantastic or maybe by then you will have achieved your goals.  I think I have heard it said that after 18 or 21 days if you have done something every day it is now a habit — so maybe by pushing yourself for 90 days you will have formed a habit and resolve will come more easily.  Go for it!

So I made a few small changes already – I didn’t really think about them too much I just did them.

I bought clothes, actually I bought one pink blouse and a pretty green sweater to wear and I bought them in my size instead of one size larger.  First, I never wear pink but when I saw it – simple and plain and the right weight I knew I should get it and I wore it already and it felt great.  And I heard several people comment on it and so that small change was pretty simple and I feel good about it.  I always buy clothes one size larger – this time I thought I should buy them to fit me and they do and they feel great.  So the color and the fit were both small changes – to soften up my look a little and it feels really good.

I also spent time telling someone how they can set up their own website to make some additional money.  Then I took a few extra minutes to also blog about it on one of my other sites – one that is just in the building stages and needs some extra attention.  I believe by helping others create what they want and need we further our own interests also.  Sometimes, like in this case maybe it just solidifies the idea in your mind helping you believe you are doing the right thing.  Sometimes, maybe that person tells another person about you and gives you a compliment — who knows how it works — it just does.  Any time that we spend helping other people comes back to benefit us in one way or another.  Connect, connect, connect!

Those are just a couple of things that I thought I would share quickly to provide small examples of what I am doing to move forward with my goals and examples of change, which is how we grow and allow for more in our life.

Look for ways to allow more in your life; more happiness, more fulfillment, more change – because it is through changing what we do, how we think, and how we act that we will reach our goals.

I think this is one of the most important concepts that we need to learn, to know what we are thinking – in essence, to know ourselves.  It can be a difficult task sometimes to figure out what it is that we are really thinking – to dig into our mind and understand the thoughts behind the words and behind the thoughts that we so often just dismiss.

I find that the more I try to slow myself down so that I can pay attention to what I am thinking then I can be more positive and in alignment with what I want in my life when I allow myself to be “carried away” with whatever is happening then I tend to be more unconscious of what I am thinking and saying and then I can be more negative.  I am very glad for my friends that force me to be more conscious of myself and to really pay attention to my thoughts.  I have a friend who would write on little post-it notes reminders to himself to slow down and consider himself. At one time, I used to put a reminder in my Outlook calendar to do something similar.  There are many ways you can remind yourself to slow down and pay attention to yourSelf, your words, and your thoughts.  The more and more you do these types of exercises the more often you will be in alignment with what you want in your life and this will make you feel like you are moving forward and accomplishing what you want.

I have spent the weekend talking to people about seminary school, working on my websites, gardening, and playing with my son.  Moving forward with all my goals and just feeling elated with life and what I am creating.
